Name: Elk Kelp
Information: Elk kelp has a long single stipe, large hollow bulb, and antler-like branches with broad blades. Second in size to the giant kelp, the elk kelp can be found in depths up to 150 feet in northern Baja and southern California, including the Channel Islands. Plants can be over 100 feet tall, held up by a single large float from which antlers sprout, each bearing a wide blade stretching out 20-60 feet. For more information visit NOAA
