Name: California Hydrocoral
Information: These corals are slow growing, up to 25 years to grow 1.5 inches, and are found in the Pacific waters from Northern California to Baja California mostly on rocky reefs. Pink, purple or orange in color, they mainly eat plankton, which it gathers as it floats by in the ocean waters. Unlike most hard corals, which loose their color when they die, the hydrocoral will actually retain its pink or purple color. NOAA
