Name: Strawberry Sea Anenome
Information: Strawberry sea anemones consist of a cylindrical body that contains a gut and mouth surrounded by tentacles. Some can grow up to 6 feet in diameter, but they generally grow to only about an inch. Like their close relative, the coral, they are relatively immobile and tend to grow in groups. The tentacles are loaded with stinging capsules called nematocysts, which are used to capture food and for defense. They have tentacles with bulbous white tips, though the color of the body may vary between orange, red, purple, pink, and white. These anemones only grow to about 1 inch in diameter and 3 inches tall. They live on rocks in the low inter tidal zone to 150 feet of depth.
