Information: Wolf eels can most abundantly be found from the sea of Japan and the Aleutian islands continuing southwards Southern California. Wolf eels live from barely subtidal waters to depths of 740 feet. While not a true eel (eels have no pectoral fins) wolf eels are a fish with an elongated body that scientists sometimes call wolf-fish. They are generally friendly to divers despite their fearsome appearance. Wolf eels typically grow to 6 feet in length and live in caves and rock shelters. A male and female will occupy the same cave for years, apparently mating for life. For more information visit:
