Name: Siphonophore
Information: Giant Siphonophores, like all siphonophores, are a collection of highly specialized working parts. Some parts catch prey, others digest food, some parts reproduce and others direct the action by swimming. Some can exceed lengths of 100 feet and appear like a living drift net, while others are diminutive and inconspicuous. Most live in the water column of the open ocean from mid-water to the deep ocean. This siphonophore can grow longer than the blue whale, which is considered Earth's largest animal. But the siphonophore's body is not much bigger around than a broomstick. Monterey Bay
